Welcome to 8th grade! My classroom will be your home base for ELA and Science.
This is my 29th year teaching at Ripona. I am a native of Ripon and graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a B.A. in Psychology and received my teaching credential from Chapman University. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, gardening, playing piano and hanging out with my rescue pup Lucy.
To prepare for 8th grade, please read our classroom policies and expectations handout which contains important information for both students and parents. Sign up for email updates from the Aeries Parent Portal, our online gradebook. These updates show your student's current grades in all subject areas. Your student will also be setting up a Student Portal account so he/she can access their gradebook information.

Dinner with a STEM Professional: October 22
Ripona 8th grade students have the opportunity to attend the San Joaquin Office of Education's annual Dinner with a STEM Professional on Thursday, October 22 from 4:30 - 8:00 PM. Dinner with a STEM Professional is an evening of inspiration and insight for students in grades 6-12 who may be interested in entering the field of science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). Students will get an opportunity to spend 15-20 minutes with four different STEM professionals of their choice to learn about their careers.
Three students will be accompanied by Mrs. Finley and have the opportunity to meet and learn about regional STEM professional's careers. This event is free, but only THREE students may attend. Students need to complete the Google Forms survey posted on their Science Google Classroom page by Friday, September 11 if they are interested in attending.
After School Sports Concessions/Snack Bar: Volunteers and Donations Needed
The 8th grade class will be selling concessions at the home girls' volleyball and boys' soccer games. We need 1 adult and 2 student volunteers to work the snack bar at each game from 3:30-5:00 PM. Review the available time slots on Sign Up Genius and volunteer if you are able.
We are also in need of donations of items to sell at the snack bar:
- Gatorade/Sports drinks
- Water
- Individually packaged snacks like chips, fruit snacks, granola bars, cookies, etc.
