This Week in ELA 1/19

Tuesday will be the introduction of the new vocabulary list...Unit 10. We will work on poetry for Tuesday and Wednesday: Tuesday we will work on Couplets, Quatrains, Concrete poems, and Limericks. Wednesday will be work on Acrostic poems, Lantern poems, Haikus and Diamante poems.

Thursday we will start notes on William Blake and Pablo Neruda. Friday we will go over Neruda's poems in Study Sync. On Friday we will take a vocabulary test as well. Next week we will work on Blake's "Little Boy Lost" and "Little Boy Found".

This Week in History 1/19

Tuesday we will take notes on Unit 7 Lesson 2.1. Wednesday will be Unit 7 Lesson 2.2. We will also do a worksheet on lesson 2 that will be due on Thursday.

Thursday we start Unit 7 Lesson 3.1

Friday we start Unit 7 Lesson 3.2

This Week in ELA 1/6-1/9

This week we will be working on our Roll of Thunder project. It is due on Thursday and we will begin presenting on Friday.

We will also be taking a vocabulary test on Friday. The words are:

abut (v) to join at one end or be next to

avail (v) to be of use or benefit to

crony (n) a very close friend

enmity (n) hatred or ill will

fervent (adj) very earnest or emotional

proxy (n) an agent or substitute

rankle (v) to cause anger, irritation or bitterness

stint (n) a period of activity

stoical (adj) self controlled and not showing feeling

unflagging (adj) tireless, continuing with vigor

This Week in History 1/6-1/9

This week we will finish the Andrew Jackson project: Is he a comic book villain or comic book hero?

This is due on Thursday.

On Wednesday the students will receive the study guide for Unit 6. They can work on it Wednesday and Thursday in class.

On Friday we will play Jeopardy for extra credit.

Next week the test for Unit 6 will be on Monday.

Roll of Thunder project 1/6-1/8

This is the project the students will work on between 1/6 and 1/8. They will be choosing the person they will work on, so if your student is absent, contact me and I will tell you which person they can work on.
