There are many themes in the Novel Wonder. Choose one you think is important and explain why it is a theme in the book, supported with text evidence and examples.

Characterization - Auggie is the protagonist of the novel, Wonder. Write a detailed paragraph describing the character Auggie, and what kind of person he is. OR choose another character from the novel to right about. Be sure to use specific character traits and specific examples from the text.

BETRAYAL—Auggie and Jack are great friends;
they laugh together, they talk about anything
and everything, and they feel comfortable together. So why does Jack betray Auggie by
talking badly behind his back? How does Auggie
feel when he hears what Jack has said?

Choose one of the following topics and free-write your response
to the topic’s questions below.
1. An Ordinary Kid-What do you think it means to be an ordinary kid? Do you think
you are ordinary? Why or why not?
2. Parents-Write about your relationship with your parents. Are you close or distant?
Do you tell them everything or nothing? Do you spend time together? If so, what do you
do together?
3. A Memorable Teacher-Write about a teacher that has had an impact on your life.
Why and how did this teacher affect you?
4. Being Kind-What do you think it means to be kind? Give some practical examples. Do
you think it is more important to be right, or to be kind?
5. Friendship-What does it mean to be a true friend? Do you have any true friends?
Do you think that YOU are a true friend? Explain. Have you ever doubted whether or not
someone was a true friend?

Novels can have many themes. Pick one theme you think is very important in The Lightning Thief. Write a paragraph explaining how this is an important theme in the book. You must include examples from the text.

Now that you know a little bit about each Godly parent and the different Cabins at camp, write a letter to your teacher explaining why you think you should be in a specific cabin. Think of your own character traits and include them as evidence of why you fit into a particular cabin. If you have several qualities maybe you are like Percy & other campers who are currently “unclaimed” by a godly parent. Use information from text as textual evidence to support your claims!

Create a slide with a kindness quote. Be sure to use quotes, cite the author if there is one and get creative!

In a paragraph tell which haunted house did you choose to buy and why? Include a description of your chosen house.
